When it comes to finding a retreat in McCall, Idaho, you have many choices. This one is particularly good – a bit of a secret find and one that people long to return to. The Back Cabin is a quiet refuge, nestled in the woods close to Payette Lake, and filled with modern conveniences, cozy furnishings and local history.

Far enough away from the town of McCall to feel like you are secluded, yet close enough to enjoy all the seasonal recreational activities around McCall - summer, winter, spring and fall. This fully-restored three bedroom, two bathroom cabin sleeps two couples easily, or a family group up to seven. It is located on the west side of Payette Lake in the Wagon Wheel Bay, just off Warren Wagon Road. It is peacefully placed on 2nd tier land, with access to the lake.

You can take a stroll on the quiet lane to reach beach access on Payette Lake or listen to the creek just beyond the large entertaining deck. You can even climb up into a timeless tree house for some fun. Or as most people do, take adventures every day in the expansive wilderness that surrounds us

ALL THE AMENITIES AND CHARM

The open floor plan of this cabin creates a gathering space to share time together in the kitchen, dining and living room area. This warm and welcoming great room has large windows that look out onto the generous deck. Spacious bedrooms and bathrooms make for easy living. And, when you are coming in from the wild, the mudroom provides a place to stash extra gear, supplies and slip on your comfy shoes.

The fully-equipped contemporary kitchen has all new appliances, including an induction stovetop, convection oven, microwave, low-noise dishwasher, and a French-door refrigerator. You’ll find a great assortment of gadgets, cookware and bakeware to make your time in the kitchen enjoyable and convenient for creating family meals. The breakfast bar seats three and the rustic kitchen table has seating for six.. The living room seats seven easily, with comfy armchairs and couch. A useful pellet stove gives you an extra blast of heat when you most need it. A large high-resolution internet TV allows for easy movie viewing and keeping up with world news. High-end audio speakers, with ipod, laptop, or phone hookup audio system provides just the right listening experience. Curl up on the couch with a book, listen to music, or watch movies on the large screen TV.

Additionally, the main level has a full bathroom with tiled shower, tub, heated floors, and smartly connects to an office. The office itself doubles as a bedroom with a queen-size deep mattress murphy bed and French doors to the deck. This quiet office is designed for those who need to work efficiently and privately; it is equipped with a color printer, scanner and copy machine.. There is high-speed wireless internet throughout the house and deck for uninterrupted multi-device internet access and streaming.

The spiral staircase leads you upstairs to a landing area adjoined by a full bath and master bedroom with a king bed. The master bedroom is cozy, with a fluffy comforter, reading lamps, vaulted ceiling, a view of the woods, and high-resolution internet TV. The bathroom has double sinks, vaulted tiled shower, skylights, wall heater, and ample storage.

The upstairs bunk room accommodates sleeping for three with twin platform beds designed with privacy curtains in each nook, reading lamps and cellphone charging station shelves. There is plenty of comfy bedding for all seasons. The window overlooks the wooded area and creek.

SUMMER OUTDOOR & WATERSPORTS, WINTER SNOWSPORTS

The Back Cabin is not only 7 minutes from town, but also well located for many sports and activities in the area. Here are only a few to mention:

For Summer and Fall activities, we are:

• Within short walking distance to a private access point on Wagon Wheel Bay to Payette Lake, a perfect launching place for self-propelled watercraft.
• On the main biking trail that circles the lake, as well as an excellent starting point for other extensive biking in the area.
• Located 13 miles from Brundage Mountain Ski Resort, a short 20-minute drive, to enjoy mountain biking at the resort.
• Close to dozens of hiking trails and fishing lakes in the area.
• A close 5 minutes to North Beach, a canoe, kayak and SUP rental location with access upriver.
• Within an hour’s driving distance to several hot springs.
• A quick 5 minutes to The Shore Lodge and its incredible Cove Spa.

For Winter and Spring activities, we are:

• Located 13 miles from Brundage Mountain Ski Resort, a short 20-minute drive, with both resort and snowcat skiing.
• Located within 15 minutes of three prime nordic skiing venues (Bear Basin, Ponderosa State Park, Jug Mountain Ranch).
• Well positioned between numerous snowmobiling launch areas and trails (Green Gate, Francis Wallace) on the west side of town. However, it should be noted, you can not park your snowmobile trailer at our property. All trailers must be parked elsewhere in town or at launching points.
• A short 15 minutes to McCall’s Activity Barn with tubing.
• 15 minutes from to Payette Powder Guides meeting place, with two yurts located on Lick Creek Summit (elevation 6930').

Requirements:

We and the City of McCall take occupancy numbers, city codes, and neighborhood requirements seriously.  We know you can, too.

• Seven is the maximum number of guests at all times. 
• Three vehicles maximum at all times. 
• Trailers can not be accommodated.
• This is a residential neighborhood; loud music and partying are not acceptable.  If you are planning a gathering that includes this, please look into other rental properties in neighborhoods which accommodate your needs.
